If you’re carrying an iPhone 14 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, you’re probably already dealing with a big hole in your wallet.
So the idea of dropping this thing onto something hard is not our idea of fun. But what if it does?
That’s something YouTuber PhoneBuff set out to answer, dropping both phones from a great height to see what would happen. The phones were dropped from the same height in each test, but they were dropped separately each time. One drop was on the back of the phone, one was on a corner, and the other was face down. The results? You probably want to keep these expensive phones in some sort of case.
It goes without saying that the phones exploded on impact. While both phones surprisingly survived some falls, other falls weren’t so forgiving.
Dropping your phone forwards or backwards is usually going to make a real mess of that thing, so screen protectors are never a bad idea. If you’re worried about that back glass, there’s a new case. Because even though the Galaxy S23 Ultra has Corning’s best ever glass on the back, it still won’t hold up well if you drop it on something as hard as concrete.
You can definitely watch the full PhoneBuff video to see how things went down, but just make sure you don’t let your phone see what’s going on.
