In its latest edition, “Wow, this thing costs more than ever,” HBO Max announced today that it is increasing the price of its paid tier. Already one of the more expensive streaming options, the price will increase by $1 to $15.99/month for new subscribers starting this Thursday, January 14. For existing customers, it looks like you’ll get one more billing cycle before switching. What a beauty.
Meanwhile, HBO Max has made headlines of late for removing content from the platform. Subscribers lost access to like shows Westworld And Sesame Street, and while obviously these changes don’t affect every single user, those affected by this content removal must be ridiculously upset. I will be. We are all officially paying more but getting less and only in reality are we currently a part of what can be considered acceptable practices by these multi-billion dollar companies.
I don’t get it, folks.
What will I continue to pay? Yes, that loses me big time. It hurts us all. I’m still working up the courage to cancel my Netflix account after the countless times they’ve raised my subscription price, but sorry, they have some good shows and movies. What’s a hopeless content streaming whore to do? I got stuck.
