Apple will announce multiple new mixed reality headsets in 2025, according to a new report.
Apple is expected to announce its first mixed reality headset, called the Reality Pro, later in 2023. But that headset is expected to be very expensive indeed, possibly costing over $3,000. Now, a new report claims that Apple is planning a different approach for 2025.
Writing on Medium, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he believes Apple has not one, but two new headsets for release in 2025. One of them will be an updated version of the headset announced in 2023, the other will be a cheaper alternative.
Apple’s second-generation AR/MR headset comes in two high-end and low-end models. The high-end and low-end will be developed and manufactured by Luxcaseict and Foxconn respectively. The current launch schedule for both models is likely in 2025.
While Kuo didn’t say how much the cheaper headset will cost, previous reports have pointed to a price of around $1,500, though that could change between now and the point the headset actually ships.
Apple is all set to potentially announce its first mixed reality headset during the WWDC23 event which will take place later this year. If Apple follows its usual pattern, that event will be in June. At this point we can expect to learn more about the product we’ve heard so much about over the past few years.
