The OnePlus Nord N20 5G was launched today via T-Mobile with a ট্যাগ 282 price tag and a design language that OnePlus will accept for all their phones. This new N20 phone is undoubtedly the most popular OnePlus phone of the year.
OnePlus sent me a review unit to play with, and while the performance and 60Hz display are fairly tackled, it’s quite a pleasure to hold or photograph this phone. Just look at this thing.
To recap, you get a Snapdragon 695 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 6.43 ″ FHD AMOLED display at 60Hz. It also has an in-display fingerprint reader, a 4500mAh battery with 33W fast charging and a main 64MP camera. OnePlus has also tossed in monochrome and macro lenses that I can’t imagine anyone would use. The story here is really pricey and how sharply arranged this phone is.
The design is nothing like the recent OnePlus phones. Instead of its sunrise silhouette and curves everywhere, this phone is awkwardly flat. Okay, outside of the slight bubble of the display above the frame, this phone has some edges that need to be held. Not in a terrifying iPhone 13 way, where the phone is uncomfortable to hold, but in a pleasantly ergonomic way.
It has this metallic frame that runs nicely around the edges of the phone with chamfered edges and machined cutouts for ports and speakers and a headphone jack, as well as really clickable buttons. Then to you I guess it’s a plastic back that looks metallic, with this really fun shiny texture that can be seen in the off corner.
If I wish OnePlus would take this Nord N20 to carry their flagship phone, that would be the design.
For the rest of the phone, yes there are some issues. Again, 282! Anyway, it runs Android 11 … what? The display, even as an AMOLED, is a big eye for those who have spent the last 5 years at 60Hz and 90Hz and above. Among these things the vibration motor is the bottom shelf, maybe-your-hand-vomiting level is bad. The single camera you use is not great. But again – again, this is a $ 282 phone.
Will you buy this thing? It would be a tough phone to recommend, but just know that it’s beautiful.
