After months of leaks, the Beats Studio Buds are finally here, and they have a lot more to offer than the model they’re currently sitting on top of.
The first thing you will notice is no doubt the transparent case option, which is undoubtedly the best. But beyond that there are some functional improvements.
At the top of the pile is probably longer battery life. Battery life is increased from 15 hours to 24 hours when you enable noise-cancellation, but if you disable it, battery life increases from 24 hours to 36 hours.
Those figures when you use the included charging case of course. Don’t, and you’ll get about six hours of listening time between charges — up from five hours previously.
The new earbuds cost $169.99, a $20 price hole compared to the original model. In terms of listening, there is a claimed 1.6x improvement in noise cancellation and 2x improvement when using transparency mode. Whether most people will notice is another matter.
There’s no doubt that these are better earbuds than the original Beats Studio Buds, but it doesn’t matter if most people will notice beyond the increased battery life – factor in the relatively small price increase and that gorgeous transparent case, and you might just be the way to go for the original earbuds. Regardless of whether or not.
