Google today brought a new update to the Google Camera app on the Pixel phone, a step that is usually noticeable. We don’t see these often, so when we do, we dig for new features or big changes. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a mystery that Google didn’t say anything new and none of us can find anything big.
The update is being rolled out to everyone as build 8.4.600.440402475.27. Again, this should be live for everyone, as I found in my Pixel 6 Pro but I usually find myself behind Google’s slow rollout. My guess is that it is widely available.
Feel free to grab it with that link below and start digging for yourself. It could just be a bug fixer or maybe Google is developing new features that are too lazy to hide and will soon be published if someone digs into its code. If anything, Google Camera apps often tell us about upcoming Pixel phones, and the Pixel 6a is right around the corner.
In a related note, has anyone recently seen the Google Camera app rating? It’s a big one Oh. It currently sits at 2.2 on Google Play with over 450,000 reviews Of the first 10 reviews shown to me, 8 were 1-star, the other 2-star and the last 4-star. People don’t like the Google Camera experience.
